The Riverwalk

We are back from the Riverwalk in San Antonio. We had so much fun and didn't want to leave!! The Westin Riverwalk hotel was amazing. The staff waited on us hand and foot, and were soooo friendly. I loved visiting the Alamo. So much history there. We ate lunch outside sitting along the river, and dinner at Mi Tierra's in the Market Square. This was seriously the best Mexican food I have ever eaten in my life. After leaving there we went to a piano bar called Howl At The Moon. I wore my purple Gypsy 05 dress that night and got lots of compliments on it. Gypsy is made of organic material in a solar powered factory in Los Angeles, CA. Brice loved it and told me I should buy it in other colors. You can buy yours from Shop Sublime.

When we left Sunday, we stopped in San Marcos and went shopping at the Prime Outlet center. Voted the 3rd best place to shop in the WORLD, I can certainly see why. I bought sheets at Pottery Barn, a teapot at Crate & Barrel, tank tops from Jcrew, and a black sweater from Juicy Couture.
Here are some other pictures from our trip. I love my new Canon Rebel.
Outside of Mi Tierra's, Brice being a typical redneck.

This bird kept coming to our table while we were eating lunch.

I LOVE my hubby!

So by now I know a lot of you are wondering what Brice planned for my birthday and our anniversary. I will try to keep this short:)
He made me go get dressed for dinner at my parents house and said he would call me when I could come home. Finally he calls to say he is ready and I can come home now, but when I get there he won't let me go inside the house. We have to go eat dinner first. So we went to Joe's Crab Shack, and while we were standing outside he took this picture of me while he was smoking. The smoke from his cigarette made a heart above my head!

We both thought it was pretty neat, but Brice was freaked out by it. I asked him why? He said well you will see when we get home.
Finally we arrive home and he lets me go inside thru the garage. On the door is a card with little HEART confetti glued on:) The letter he wrote on the inside of the card made me cry.

So now I walk inside the house and there is thousands of fresh pink and red rose petals on the floor leading into our bedroom. On the floor is two big boxes wrapped in wrapping paper with more heart confetti glued on:) On the bed, is a huge HEART made out of more rose petals with our wedding napkins laying around. I don't know why he used red rose petals because our wedding colors were pink, but that's okay!

So now I open the first box outside in the garage since obviously it's going to make a mess with all this confetti falling off. Inside that box was another box wrapped up with more confetti. Inside that box was ANOTHER box with confetti. This went on for five more boxes, each one getting smaller and smaller. I finally got to the last box and saw it was from Tiffany & Co. Inside was the most beautiful HEART necklace. So now I open the other box, and of course there was five more boxes inside that one to unwrap. By this point there is a huge mess in the garage. Well inside that box was another Tiffany & Co. box. It was the matching bracelet.

We had a great time together and I can't wait for many more years together.

WE MADE IT!!

Brice and I made it thru our first year of marriage. They say the 1st year is the hardest, and I believe it! But I wouldn't trade it for anything in the world. I have the best husband anyone could ask for. Last night he was in the garage for 4 hours making me something. He told me I was not allowed to come out there, or to even open the door. I finally fell asleep around midnight and he still wasn't in bed. I assume whatever he made me he is giving me tonite. I peaked outside today and there are two bottles of Elmer's glue on his workbench. You know the kind we use to take to kindergarten? This is going to be interesting to say the least. I am most excited to see what he has planned for us this coming weekend. All I know is that we are going to the Riverwalk in San Antonio. Will keep you all updated. xoxo

Happy Birthday to ME!

I am 26 years old today and to reward myself for being good this year (oh wait, that's a Christmas excuse, right?) I decided to buy myself the new Canon Rebel XSi. I want to study and learn photography and hopefully get paid for it one day. My sister-in-law has the Canon Rebel and she is an awesome photographer and makes good money doing it on the side. Hopefully she can teach me a few things and Brice said I can take photography classes if we find some in our area. I am so excited! Yay!!

anniversary postponed

Brice informed me today that due to hurricane Ike, the hotel he had planned to take me to has been ruined and is closed for repairs. He said he needs another week to plan something special for us somewhere else. So next weekend we will be celebrating our anniversary eventhough it's really on Monday. I think he wants to go to San Antonio next weekend because he mentioned the Riverwalk. I am excited to see what he plans. He's always creative and sponganeous.

video...

Here is a video of Sophia and Raven surviving their very first hurricane. This was at 5pm and Ike did not make landfall till 2am. As you can see in the second video, it looks like the wind is going to pick up Raven and blow her away!!

Ike aftermath

Here are some pictures of our backyard where the fences blew down. It's weird being able to see our neighbors backyards. These fences were very old so now we all get brand new updated wood fences.

A piece of tree landed on my brand new mailbox. Brice had just built the mailbox post last week out of horseshoes. I am kind of surprised it made it thru hurricane Ike since my husband built it, haha.

Nathan's old daycare when he lived here had damage also

A tree near my parents house

This was near us also. There use to a real estate billboard on the corner that had been there since I was a little kid. It's gone now.

I am defiantly not complaining. The damage Angleton had is nothing compared to what Galveston and Crystal Beach had. Homes were completely destroyed there. Also lots of homes were destroyed in Freeport which is only 20 miles from us. I feel bad for those people and hope they can re-build soon. Re-building fences and planting new trees is easy. Having to build a new home is not possible for most people. Our prayers are with all those who lost their homes. God Bless!!

road trip!

We are safe, but we have had no power since 1am Friday. And we have no fence around our backyard anymore. It's totally destroyed. The damage in town is pretty bad and our town got the clean side of the hurricane. It's sad to see the damage in Galveston compared to what we got. Because of the heat and no a.c. we deceided to pack up and go to New Braunfels. So we are on our way now as I type this. Talk to everyone later. I love road trips!!

Hurricane Ike

Well it looks like hurricane Ike is going to be coming for a visit Saturday morning. The police knocked on our door this morning letting us know of the mandatory evacuation orders for Angleton. Against the judgement of my sister, we have decided to board up our house and stay here. My sister was 3 years old and I was just a baby when hurricane Alicia came thru Angleton in 1983. Crystal called it one of her "earliest memories" because it was so "tragic" for her. She said she stayed right by my crib while I slept because she was afraid I was going to get sucked out of my crib from the wind. Hurricane Alicia blew our swingset out of the backyard over the roof of the house and it landed in the front yard. My dads shed building was ripped into pieces. All the car windows were busted out. My mom said she remembers the wind being so strong and loud that it sounded as if the house was going to fall apart any minute. Then she said the eye of the storm came right over Angleton and it got very calm and pretty outside. This will be a first for me and Brice. But we are prepared and ready. Wish us luck.

i wanna grow old with you....

I can't believe it's almost been one year since Brice and I got married. September 22 is not only our wedding anniversary, but it's also my 26 birthday. I am so looking forward to this day. I know Brice has something planned because he was on the phone the other day and was writing something down on paper when he told me to get out of the room. When I later asked him why, he said because it's something I have planned for our anniversary. He did give me a hint and said we are going out of town somewhere. I am so excited, I can't wait!!

I was thinking about our wedding first dance song today. Everyone loved it because it's so funny and not your typical mushy love song. Here are the lyrics.

I wanna make you smile whenever you're sad
Carry you around when your arthritis is bad
All I wanna do is grow old with you
Ill get your medicine when your tummy aches
Build you a fire if the furnace breaks
Oh it could be so nice, growing old with you
Ill miss you
Ill kiss you
Give you my coat when you are cold
Ill need you
Ill feed you
Even let ya hold the remote control
So let me do the dishes in our kitchen sink
Put you to bed if you've had too much to drink
I could be the man who grows old with you
I wanna grow old with you

Free People

I have to show everyone this new Free People dress. I wore shorts under it because it's kind of short in the back. I also wore a black Splendid tank underneath. Yesterday we went to Goe Harley Davidson to raise money for the Toys For Tots charity. I got compliments all day how cute this dress was. It's my favorite next to my Gypsy 05 dress!
Here is my dad and me. The wind was blowing right in my face.

words to live by.....for my girls....

"Live your life in such a way that when your feet hit the floor in the morning Satan shudders and says...'Oh shit, she's awake!!"

Back from Washington, y'all!

Nathan was so excited to see me walking thru the airport towards baggage claim where they were waiting on me. He ran across the airport with his arms open yelling "meme, meme!!" I didn't expect that reaction from him. I guess he really did miss me!!
The town of DuPont that Crystal and PJ live in is absolutely beautiful. There are walking trails right by their house. We went hiking and picked wild blueberries off the trees. At the end of the trail is the ocean and it's amazingly beautiful. It's all within walking distance of their house. I loved seeing my sister again, it felt just like old times. Nathan is still the same, but he talks a lot more now in complete sentences. Washington is so much different from Texas. I got some strange looks our first time out to dinner when I asked for sweet tea and didn't know what "prawns" were. Why not just call 'em shrimp? Even more funny was something I saw on the menu called "seafood on a bun". Down here in the south we call that a Po'Boy. I gotta admit, their seafood in Washington was a bit better than what we have down here. But I really got mad when I couldn't have sliced onions on my house salad! Now who doesn't serve a salad without onions? Yeah I got another crazy look when I asked for that, hehe. (Mandi, I promise not to embarrass you if we get to meet up next time. I am a pro now with the Washington food menus, ha!)
My first day in Seattle. We even went to the Space Needle.

Sometimes you just gotta do this in an empty alley!

One night we were all going out to dinner and Crystal and PJ were in the living room waiting on me to finish getting ready. I was in the bathroom doing my makeup and of course Nathan was in there helping me. When I finally got done I told Nathan to go tell mommy that I was ready. He proudly walked into the living room and announced to Crystal and PJ "Hey everybody! Meme is ready, and so am I, so come on!!!"
